FAQ
*Wishes will begin to be granted in 2027
What age qualifies as a senior for this program?
Our program primarily serves adults aged 65 and older, although each submission is evaluated individually based on the circumstances.
What are the ways an individual qualifies for a wish?
A senior may qualify based on age, residency, financial or physical need and capability to complete the wish.
What is the geographic service area?
We currently serve seniors living within our designated service area of the Chicagoland area and the northern suburbs. We hope to expand our reach as our funding and volunteer network grow.
Who may nominate someone for a wish?
A senior may be nominated by a family member, friend, neighbor, healthcare professional, social worker, or another caring member of the community.
Are self-nominations welcome?
Absolutely. Older adults with meaningful wishes are encouraged to submit requests on their own behalf.
Are there financial or residency requirements?
While there may not be a strict income requirement, priority may be given to seniors who lack the financial means, physical ability, or support needed to fulfill the wish independently. Applicants must reside within our designated service area.
What types of requests cannot be granted?
For reasons of safety, practicality, and financial responsibility, certain requests may fall outside the scope of our program. These could include cash distributions, medical treatments, legal matters, major home remodeling, or high-risk activities.
How soon will applicants hear from us?
Our volunteer review committee evaluates submissions on a rolling basis. Applicants can generally expect an initial response within two to three weeks.
Does submitting a request guarantee approval?
Every request will receive thoughtful consideration. However, approval will depend on factors such as available funding, volunteer resources, feasibility, and safety. Submission of a request does not guarantee that the wish will be granted.
