Pay It Back Wishes for Seniors works to advance positive change in our community’s perception, appreciation, and support of seniors by providing impactful wish experiences.

Our Story
Thanks to increasing life expectancy and improved medical care, more Americans are living into their 80s, 90s and beyond than ever before. Unfortunately, many seniors experience social isolation and loneliness. This can contribute to loss of self-esteem and identity, and lead to depression and anxiety. Research shows social isolation may also put seniors at higher risk for chronic health conditions and cognitive decline.
Wish fulfillment is a vehicle for seniors to reconnect and re-balance. The process begins by engaging seniors in meaningful discussions about their particular wish, yielding important insights into their interests, aspirations, and challenges. Through these conversations, we help seniors reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness, while boosting their confidence and connections to the community. Our programs allow seniors to express their individual hopes and aspirations, while creating opportunities to address practical and emotional needs and enhance their well-being. It is also a means to promote positive change in our community’s perception, appreciation, and support of seniors.
The wish process often involves mustering local community resources. These may include volunteer groups, businesses with access to in-kind donations, and religious and civic organizations. In addition, Pay It Back Wishes for Seniors can connect seniors with local programs offering a range of beneficial supports that will continue after the wish has been completed.
Our project also increases opportunities for seniors to stay involved and engaged, allowing them to find new friends and continue to make valued contributions to their community. These opportunities include participating in volunteer projects, leading discussion groups, teaching or mentoring youth, and many other rewarding activities.
Elders have a wealth of knowledge, experience, and skills they can share. These activities not only benefit the community, they contribute to seniors’ overall health.
